What the Bleep?

One of the big news stories this week has been about Gov. Spitzer, or should I say former Governor Spizter. Now, first of all these political scandals are really getting to be too common. Now, I have two issues that are ticking me off about this whole situation.

1. So the person gets busted, and then they always make a public apology. Fine, whatever. Is it really sincere? No, they probably are just sorry they don't have a job anymore and they have been publicly humiliated. But the real thing that bugs me is when they drag the wife to the press conference and make her stand there like she actually cares about her husband at this point. Sure, they may be able to work beyond this and still have a relationship, but right after this comes out about her husband? Now the husband better be pretty damn sorry he's embarrassing his wife. There was that one wife of that McGreevy dude who later came out and said she was basically forced to stand up there and smile. Wow. Talk about respect... first you are a cheating liar, and now you decide to not give a damn about respecting your wife and make her stand next to you, like it even matters at that point.

2. Now they released the information about the girl he was involved in. Was that really necessary? I'm guessing its public record, but why do people even care about that? That's the only reason the media is showing all this crap, because people are paying attention to it. All I heard was the little blurb before the 4:00 news, and how she is 22 and apparently had a pretty shitty life already. Great, so what can we do to make that worse? I'm guessing any prostitute already doesn't think they are doing the most amazing thing anyway, but does the whole country need to know? Now I know people are probably going to say she chose this life and she could've done something else, but that is really jumping to conclusions. Maybe she had psychological problems. Maybe not. Maybe she was constantly being drugged up and messed up. Maybe not. The fact is, does 9 News and CNN and everyone else really need to tell us what is on this girls myspace page? Doing this to a girl that has already had a lot of problems in her life is not going to help her. If she jumps out of that building they keep showing where all the media is staked out, I'm blaming the first prick reporter that put her name out there. I find it really cheesy that the news people think the best news to air is about somebody myspace or facebook page. Shame on all the people that found out her name and then went and searched for her on myspace or whatever.

In conclusion.... our messed up country isn't going to get any better if the media keeps feeding everyone trash. And people around the world are going to keep thinking our country is Bleeped if this is how our media continues to report "news." Last...Whatever happened to RESPECT?

The End.

24 hour news on tv is one of the worst things to happen to us in my lifetime...they feel the need to fill their time, and trip over each other to be the first to report the 'news'...
you are right on the money about the wife deal, and also about the girl...i feel sorrow for both of them, but none for the former governor...

Right on!!!! To number one.... I say the only way a wife could be truely smiling at that point would be if her cheater husband was strung up by his balls in front of the world while he spoke. Shame on publicists and to the ego consumed man that believes that his wife owes that to him and puting her in the situation that she is trying to make the situation best for her kids. As for the girl.... why was that released? It makes no sense. As pete said.... it is news stations trying to fill space. Our society is so messed up. The saddest thing about it is that there are people that actually think that that information matters.
