What Did He Say?

So I'm sitting here watching the WVU/Xavier game on CBS, and knitting at the same time, when I think I hear the announcer guy say Steamboat. Then I thought I heard him say Steamboat Springs. I figured I didn't hear correctly, so I hit rewind and played it again. Still pretty sure he said Steamboat. I call Pops. He wasn't listening. Mom was, but she wasn't paying attention. Then I got super clever and hit rewind back to the part where I heard it and turned on Closed Captioning. Wow technology is cool...

21.2 seconds left....

Verne: We've had some scoreboard issues here tonight in Phoenix and we're told now that one of the scoreboards is indicating a time discrepancy.

Bill: up in the end zone they have 21.66. That might be in steamboat but this is the official one.

(laughing between the two)

Verne: We live a fast life in Steamboat Springs.

Bill: Boy you sure do!

Verne: 21.66 and they're saying WHOA.

Bill: Well they have these ones working.....

Interesting. So here is what we know. This guy named Verne is somehow familiar with Steamboat Springs. His friend Bill knows Verne is somehow associated with Steamboat Springs. He also claims to know the rate of how things go here.

Here's what we don't know. Who the hell is Verne? Is he actually from here or is he a part slimer. Oops I meant part timer. If he lives here or has a house here, where is it and how can we make fun of him for it being way too big. We can pretty much guess it would be way too big than necessary. Not the second homes are necessary, but I'm sure if he has one, it is to him. Oh, and last... what the hell does this have to do with the tourney? And, why would a 21.66 instead of the determined 21.2 seconds have anything to do with Steamboat? Is he implying that "we" are slower than everyone else?

This is strange and I'm going to figure this mystery out. I am, however, comforted by the fact that I did actually hear correctly the first time and I was in fact not imagining things.

very strange..... i wonder what he did mean by that. you are proof that people from ss aren't slow. kind of a weired thing to hear on tv though. no baby yet... many contractions, but nothing big... he is clinging on until he is forced out. have a good one and we will talk to you soon.

Here is a quote from the CBS website:
He lives in Steamboat Springs, Colo., with his wife, Nancy, and serves on the Board of Directors of the summer chamber music festival, "Strings in the Mountains."

Not much else, but i didn't look very hard.
