Balloon Rodeo
A few weekends ago was one of my faves in Steamboat. It's the Balloon Rodeo and Arts in the Park. I ended up having to bring Glacier to the Balloon fest, which I thought was going to be a burden, but it ended up being a blessing. Since pets weren't allowed in the launching site, we veered off right before the entrance and found a mowed grassy area, right at the shore of the lake, with absolutely no other people, still within 50 yards of the launching area, and I'm pretty sure it was a much better view since the launching area is just a bunch of dirt on the hill above the lake. Amazing pictures were the result of my little burden buddy. After, I hit up Arts in the Park, which is a festival of about 125 vendors. I always leave wishing I was uber rich, but it is very inspiring and amazing to see the creations some people come up with. I always treat myself to one thing, and this year it was a small print of an amazing oil painting (the huge original was $5200, ouch). Anyhow, here's the pics of the balloons. If you ever want to come to Steamboat in the summer, its a good weekend.
