Classic Morons

I normally don't get too worked up over feminist rights and equality and all that, but every once in a while something gets under my skin. I was reading an article in the paper today about our ridiculous sheriff (the one who got charged with a DUI while driving a city vehicle with a weapon, the one who cried conspiracy theory, the one who brings shame to this town way too often). The guy is WAY over budget and is in a fight with the city about it, he thinks he's right, they don't, blah blah blah. So, one of his buddies was talking about several positions that need filled, one of which is a secretary for the office.

“We desperately need a girl up front,” said Undersheriff David Bustos, who said other Sheriff’s Office employees are forced to leave their work to cover reception duties. “With all due respect, it just drives them crazy.”

Now, I understand most secretaries are women. That still doesn't mean when looking for a new employee you single out half of the population. And he had to make it even worse and say girl instead of woman, degrading the position even more. A friend of mine knows a former employee in that same office. She left because the sheriff would constantly call her "Chubs" every time he addressed her, refusing to call her by her real name, even in front of other employees and the general public. Whenever she tried to confront him, he would reply with something along the lines of, "I'm your boss so I can call you whatever I want." Well maybe these assholes wouldn't be in such a bind for employees if they treated everyone with a little respect. And these are the people that are supposed to protect and serve our community!
